THE EARLIER IN THE DAY THAT YOU GET STARTED, THE MORE HOP-OFF TIME YOU WILL HAVE. 

THE FIRST BUS LEAVES THE WHARF AT 9:00 AM. The last bus leaves at 5 pm. Therefore the maximum hop off time = 9 hours.

  • Upon purchase, you will receive an email Voucher showing your purchase
  • This Voucher will need to be PRINTED and exchanged with Big Bus

  • For Alcatraz Packages, children’s pricing defaults to the lowest age range (5-11) among the combined products.
  • Amigos will send Alcatraz Cruises your name and ticket quantity in advance
  • Your tickets will be waiting at Pier 33 under your name
  • Bring your receipt/voucher to Pier 33, Alcatraz Landing
  • All guests over age 18 are required to provide a government-issued photo ID at Pier 33
  • Plan to arrive at least 30 minutes early (you can arrive up to 120 minutes early, but Pier 33 has few attractions)
  • Please be on time – Alcatraz Tour departure times and dates cannot be changed
  • If you arrive late, Alcatraz Cruises is not required to assist you
  • More than 1 tour can be taken in 1 day, but 2 days is needed to take all tours; There are no refunds for unused tours

The Ferry ride from Pier 33 takes 10-15 minutes to get to Alcatraz. 

This is the infamous prison – where you can even go inside cells and experience the cold and stark surroundings firsthand. Alcatraz served as a federal penitentiary from 1933 to 1963, where notorious criminals like Al Capone, Machine Gun Kelly, and Creepy Karpis were held. Hop off the bus at any of 20 stops, to see great attractions and neighborhoods. Walk around at your leisure. Then hop back on another bus coming by and continue the loop.

Primary Loop Operates: Daily from 9:00am – 5:00pm. Every 10-15 minutes in summer and 20-30 minutes in winter. Route is 2.5 hours. Last Bus returns to Fisherman’s Wharf circa 7:30 pm.

Start on any day you like, but your ticket is valid only on that day.

You will travel over the Golden Gate Bridge where you can get off at the north end Vista Point stop. Walk out on to the bridge at your own pace, or just stay for a quick, but spectacular view. At this stop you can transfer to the Sausalito Loop shuttle if you want to visit the quaint bayside town of Sausalito.

Live Narration is in English. You can also choose recorded narration in multiple languages on the primary red line loop.

Big Bus Night Loop

The 90 minute Panoramic Night Tour passes through the financial district before heading across the Bay Bridge – where you’ll stop for the special view of the city skyline from Treasure Island, the site of the 1939 World’s Fair. Heading back into the city, the tour will continue along the Embarcadero to view the glittering lights along the Port of San Francisco.

Sausalito Loop 

$30 Adult Value 

From the Golden Gate Bridge Vista Point, you can take the Sausalito tour to discover this beautiful waterside town. You will tour you through the village the long way until you get to the center of the town with its charming boutiques, art galleries, Victorian buildings, fabulous views, parks, and many restaurants and cafes. Sausalito buses come to the Golden Gate Bridge Vista Point stop every 20-30 minutes. The Sausalito tour loop takes 1.5 hours before any hop-off time is added. You can hop off and explore Sausalito for 30 or 60 or 90 minutes, etc. Operates daily from 10:15am – 4:30pm. We recommend an early start to your day if you plan on going to Sausalito.

You’ll see the crowded and bustling open-air meat and produce markets of Stockton Street; visit side alleyways that will take you back in time; and discover lions, dragons, pagoda roofs, and dangling lanterns along the ever-colorful Grant Street.

Wear walking shoes. Be prepared to walk uphill (some inclines, but not San Francisco's craziest). This tour departs from the corner of Union Square, at Geary and Powell Streets. Stop 6 on the Big Bus map.
