Please arrive 30 minutes early at Pier 33, Alcatraz Landing. To pick up tickets, all guests over age 18 are required to provide a government-issued photo ID.
The boat ride from Pier 33 takes 20-25 minutes to get to Alcatraz. The ferry circles the island, getting you close to spots not seen on the day tour.
This is the infamous prison – where you can go inside cells and experience the cold and stark surroundings firsthand. Alcatraz served as a federal penitentiary from 1933 to 1963, where notorious criminals like Al Capone and Machine Gun Kelly were held.
Once you dock, a docent will lead you up the hill to the cell house. Stops will be made on the way at Civil War era buildings and other historic sites. This docent tour is unique to the Night Tour.
The award-winning 45-minute cell house audio headset tour will captivate you with escape attempts, riots, bizarre characters, and much more. Displays include prison life, guard controls, solitary confinement, and how three men made their famous “Escape From Alcatraz.”
The Alcatraz Night Tour is very popular and we are only able to obtain a limited number of tickets. We sell out of this tour quickly.
